
Mary Elizabeth Snyder, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2025, at Franklin Square Medical Center. She was born January 8, 1944 in Baltimore to Henry J. Snyder and Elizabeth C. Snyder. Mary's loves were music and teaching.
Early on, Mary learned and played the accordion and the French horn. She graduated from St. Wenceslaus Catholic School (1958), Catholic High School of Baltimore (1962). Towson State College (Elementary Education 1967) and Johns Hopkins University (Education 1971). She worked as a teacher and administrator in the Baltimore City public schools and was very gifted. She loved talking about her very creative, interactive classroom activities.
After retiring, she moved to Oak Crest Senior Living in Parkville, MD where she continued her interest in music and played the organ. Residents of Oak Crest described her musical therapy as uplifting. She performed in a musical ministry trio called “Mary and the Toots".
Mary was inducted into the Maryland Senior Citizen Hall of Fame (MSCHF) in 2025.
She is survived by her brother, Henry David Snyder, his wife Mary Sara Tweedie and their sons Andrew D. and James B. Snyder (Elizabeth) and James’ son Finlay Snyder. Family and friends are invited to Oak Crest Chapel, 8800 Walther Blvd., Parkville MD 21234, for a viewing at 9:00 am and a Mass of Christian Burial in the chapel at 10:00 am Saturday 3/22/25, to reminisce, grieve and celebrate her life. The internment is family only.
