Patricia Anne Behles (nee Kreidler) peacefully entered into eternal life on April 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Her angel wings were ready to reunite with her beloved parents Jean and Donald Kreidler in Heaven.
Pat was the beloved wife of 50 years to Richard (Rich); a devoted and loving mother of Stephanie Blades and her husband David, Andy Behles and his wife Adèle and Jacqui Breach and her husband Eric. She was the cherished Gram of Adrienne Blades, Isaac Behles, Anaïs Behles, Eli Behles, Nora Breach and Ryder Breach. She was the sister of Jim Kreidler and his wife Debbie, sister-in- law to Robert Behles and his wife Alice, aunt to their sons Ryan Behles and Brad Behles and sister-in-law to Michael Behles and his wife Lois.
Pat and Rich’s love story began over a love of books taking them both to library school in Philadelphia where, like the Robert Frost poem “The Road Not Taken”, each one of their “unexpected roads” brought them. Their love, rooted in faith and devotion, blossomed into a remarkable 50-year marriage filled with joy, partnership, and deep compassion.
Family was at the center of Pat’s life. There was not a day that went by that she wasn’t talking about one of her kids and later grandkids and their sports games, dance recitals, musical performances or things they were interested in. Gram & Gramps camp will live on in two of her grandkids’ hearts. The birthday radio we all heard for 40+ years over the phone on our birthdays will ring in our hearts forever and reading our favorite books together will be special memories. Her family will continue to honor her at each sunset and firepit in Deep Creek. In her retirement era, in addition to spending time with all six grandkids, she enjoyed traveling with Rich, watching the Baltimore Orioles and York Revolution baseball teams, in addition to the Baltimore Ravens, reading, crocheting and watching Jeopardy.
Pat devoted her professional life to librarianship having spent the majority of her nearly 40-year career at the University of Baltimore Law Library. She also had stints at the Loyola/Notre Dame Library, Enoch Pratt Free Library (often fielding late night reference calls where she earned the nickname “Night Owl”) and Community College of Baltimore County - Catonsville. At many of these, she often unofficially served as the “Party Planning or Fun Committee”.
Girl Scouts played a major role in her upbringing in the Philadelphia suburbs, belonging to and leading troops even into college. When moving to Maryland, staying involved in Girl Scouts brought her a sense of belonging. She continued sharing her love of nature, learning new skills, making new friends and connecting with others, serving the community and building confidence through scouts to her daughters and grand daughter.
Living a life in Jesus’ image, devoted to her faith and also greatly inspired by her mother, Pat lived a life of service to others. She often had extra food in her grocery cart or clothes, hats, gloves and toiletries for those who needed it. “You never know when someone might need what we have for their next meal or if they are restarting their life”. She made blankets and hats with various crochet groups, made casseroles for those who were hungry and always looked for opportunities to volunteer. She showed us how rich we all were in lending a hand, lifting up others and showing them someone cared, if even in small ways. She also was an original member of St. Isaac Jogues’ Women’s Bible Study Group.
Pat is no longer trapped in her body victimized by Lymphoma and ALS and free to build campfires and toast smores, watch the sun rise and set when she wants, hike to waterfalls, eat Maryland crabs and Philly cheesesteaks washed down with a pumpkin beer as much as she’d like, read books to her grandkids and crochet a blanket the size of this earth to wrap us all in her love.
The family will receive friends at Schimunek Funeral Home Inc. located at 9705 Belair Rd, Nottingham, MD 21236, on Saturday, April 25 , 2026 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Isaac Jogues Church located at 9215 Old Harford Rd, Parkville, MD 21234 on Monday, April 27, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Gardens, located at 10201 Bird River Rd, Baltimore, MD 21220.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Pat’s memory to St. Isaac Jogues Church, the Southwest Indian Foundation (a charity she supported over the years) or the Lymphoma Research Foundation.
Her family sincerely appreciates the prayers, love and support offered to them during this difficult time.
