  After meeting your family last night ,I felt i just had to wriite. Starting with your daughter,who so graciously welcomed us "The breakfast club."  Never having the pleasure of meeting your family, I now know where he got his kindness and just all around good guy. It was obvious his consideration and friendliness had been bestowed upon his children and their children. Bob was a softspoken and good person, strange as it may seem since descriptions are of us as being rough and gruff. I know he really enjoyed the times at breakfast with us after retirement. I can still vision the cane coming out the door and him exiting from the car. We have lost quite a few of those "good guys" since our breakfasts began. Our conversations now seem to start with medicare,aches and pains and doctors visits but always get back to the great times we had along with the heat and cold. Let me say, don't despair about his leaving this life, we had a chance to spend possibly as much time in his company as his family and he will most certainly be missed. By the way, in questions from your family, we sometimes used the "benches" although built to sleeping specifications, for seating. I still can't believe he never spoke of having been one of those special beings selected to be a WWII veteran. A veteran myself, they were the special ones.   Larry Meckel

It has been a pleasure to get to know you over the past couple of years while dating Chrissie. During that time your family has had only the upmost respect, love, and admiration for you.  Your sudden passing is tough to comprehend as it was just a couple of weeks ago that I saw you. I will never forget the first time we met as it led to a new nickname that has stuck for some time. Since my first name was uncommon you gave me a name that was more familiar to you, Robert. From that day forward I welcomed my new nickname as I was welcomed into your house for holiday celebrations.  Again, it was a pleasure to get to know you and you will be missed deeply.

I feel for your sadness today and trust that all your wonderful memories will  keep your Dad alive in your heart forever. I am sorry that I can't make the service but let me know when u are ready and we can visit in Baltimore. Please send my sympathies to your Mom and brothers. I will always treasure those high school years at your house with your gracious parents and the laughter and huge smiles from your Dad.

Uncle Robert,  you will be greatly missed.  I have enjoyed the times we spent together recently.  I am sure that you are in heaven with those who have gone before.  It is comforting to know that I will see you again.  I am thankful for the example that you and Aunt Mary have shown all of us about acceptance and kindness and love.  You were a wonderful  husband, father, grandfather and best of all Uncle to me.  I feel so blessed to have had you in my life. I will always remember the story you told about the Baseball Bat.  I still say I didn't do it.

Pop Pop - I don't think that the fact that you are no longer here has really hit me yet. We were just having a conversation about Newt Gingrich! I guess I have to vote for him now. Words cannot express how much I will miss you. You were such a strong and loving presence in my life and I know that you will be missed tremendously but I will always hold on to the memories we have. Love you forever.

Pop Pop - I don't think the shock of losing you so quickly has really sunk in yet. You will always be in my thoughts. I have so many wonderful memories of our special times together. I will always hold on to these memories. Thank you for being such a strong and loving presence in my life for the past 25 years. I will miss you forever.

Words can't describe how I feel right now. Can't believe it. Rest in peace Pop- Pop I love you sooo much. You have taught me so much and I will never forget all of the stories, laughs, and memories we have had! I will cherish them throughout my life. I am going to miss your stories soo much. I loved your war stories and all the driving tips you have given me, I will never forget! :) You came to all of my dance recitals and shows, and for that I am so thankful. My show last night was for you, and I know for a fact you are the one that got me through the school day and the show last night! You never failed to put a smile on my face! One of my greatest memories is when I spent the night and me and you watched Pearl Harbor together, you were thrilled that I got to see it, since that was what I was learning about. I will never forget your laugh(especially when my Dad would make some goofy comment) :) Its hard to know this past holiday season was the last with you but I know you will be with us all until we see you again. Also the last time I saw you was so special, I remember it like it was yesterday, it was just a great time. I won't forget the look on your face when me and my Dad surprised you by walking into your church for mass when you were sitting there! Then we went back to your house and played cards and ate a lot! I know you are watching over all of us always. Always in my heart â™¥ You were a fun- loving husband, father, and grandfather, and that is something that can't be replaced. We love and miss you Pop Pop! Get your wings and fly and Polka dance with Aunt Jenny and Bernadette! I am so lucky to have you be such a part of my life.

Johnny, I am sorry I cannot be there personally, but please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.  Praying that God will supply peace and comfort to you now, and always.
