Walter Karczmarek, age 101, of Rosedale, MD, passed away on April 24, 2025. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret Karczmarek (nee Mills), whom he married 80 years ago in March of 1945, in Glasgow, Scotland during WWII; devoted father of David Karczmarek and his wife Eileen, and Bonnie Paulk and her late husband Nick; dear brother of the late Eleanor, Cecelia, Peter, Chester, Tofel, Stanley, and Estelle. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews to include Francis Karczmarek and his wife Kathy.
Walter served as a Medic in the United States Army during WWII, where he was awarded the Meritorious Unit Award Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, and the Good Conduct Medal.
Family and friends are invited to gather at the Schimunek Funeral Home, 9705 Belair RD, Nottingham, MD 21236, on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 4-6 P.M., with a Memorial service to begin at 6 P.M. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Walter’s name to the Abbott Memorial Presbyterian Church, 3426 Bank St., Baltimore, MD 21224.
