Seven years without you, and all I can find myself thinking, more and more, is how much I miss you every day.  The older I get, the more convinced I am that we might share the same brain.  Your sense of humor, some of the one-liners I find myself thinking about on an actual daily basis - the sound of your voice and your laugh; these are the things I think about every day.  I had no idea how lucky I was.  As time goes by, I worry about forgetting the sound of your voice, your face, some of the amazing times we spent together, but in actuality I just find myself thinking about them more and more.  When we went to the fair that day and you paid probably $20 to let me go rock climbing, then said yes when I asked for a treat, I said that you were the best dad in the whole world.  The fact that you wanted me to be happy and have fun with you is the reason that's true.  You never wanted anything but for me to be happy where I was in life, and I love you so much for that.  You wanted me to go to school wherever I would be happy, even when it came to elementary school. You taught me to read by making me read to you before I even knew how, and damn did that work (I read throughout my entire childhood, entire chapter books in one night, probably because you helped me learn how to.)  And when we went to Giants games together, when I was still too young to pay attention for three hours, you made sure I brought books to read.  You also let me eat my weight in junk food, and that was glorious. You taught me how to ride a bike and laughed when I rolled into the grass (I was fine). You taught me how to cook, bake, play video games, tie shoes, and repeat some inappropriate words in Italian that have only really taught me how much I want to learn the language. Your sense of humor and desire to help me learn new things intersected perfectly. I have more memories with you than anyone else in the world, and we were only together for twelve years.  You instilled in me a sense of humor and a sense of strength.  I miss you all the time, but that's only because I can't stop thinking about you.  Thank you for everything, forever, I love you. WOW. I'm stunned! I truly am. Marc was one of my 2 best friends at Santa Clara. We had GREAT clam bakes together. Being with Marc were the funnest days of my life. Our favorite movie was, "Tin Men". Please drop everything and rent that movie with Danny Devito. I'd like you to imagine Marc and I screaming with laughter while watching that movie in a big theater. I spent time with Marcs family and was truly happy to meet such great people. I've lost 2 brothers of my own. The pain and grief that Marcs family feels is my pain and grief. I am so very sorry for your loss. The Lord Jesus and God provide shelter for Marc now. He is safe and protected and I believe we will all be united in the end. The tears are flowing so I have to go. God Bless Marc and God Bless his beautiful family. And God Bless Natalie. May she always be protected and taken care of.

I am in shock after reading the Santa Clara Magazine tonight.  Marc was my roommate at SCU for all 4 years and we shared many things including our love for the Giants and our birthdays.  We were born 30 miles and 30 minutes apart.  I always loved hearing from him and will never forget all the great times we shared during our college days.  My deepest condolences to Marc's family and all of his friends.  Marc will always be very special to me.  The memory of his quick wit continues to bring a smile to my face.  He will be greatly missed.

On April 6, 1964, Marc Thomas Friscia was born....

We all watched him as he grew

Hawaii, Europe, and Disneyland
Meeting the cousins in Italy....
Traveling to many lands.
St. Vincent de Paul, St. Ignatius High,
Santa Clara University....
My, oh my!
But that's not all, we're proud to say
From USF he got his MBA!

We watched the man that you became
As you traveled life's path
Through the sun and the rain.
You've been a wonderful father to Natalie Ann
Teaching her to be a Giant's fan!
Baseball stats, the Raiders, skiing the slopes
Were some of the things you loved the most.
But your daughter, your parents, your family
My brother, it is plain to see
That is where your heart will always be.

Speaking for myself, Karen, Anton, Michelle and Chris, we were so lucky to have Marc in our lives. As our young, fun uncle, Marc was like a brother to all of us. We all really had so much fun growing up together.  From family dinners at Nonee and Papa's house where he secretly recorded all of our dinner conversations, to playing jokes on our parents, to being in the club he created for us, and if we were on our best behavior we would not get kicked out.  We also enjoyed the many nerf basketball tournaments in his bedroom. Growing up he had so much fun educating us on music, R-Rated movies, how to swear in Italian and his many, many jokes. You could count on Marc to make us laugh at family holidays, Christmas's in Tahoe, our 4th of July celebrations in Sonoma, and vacations to Disneyland and Vegas for Nonee's 80th. And we definitely have funny Vegas stories!!!

As we got older we so enjoyed visiting Marc at Santa Clara University and couldn't wait to have that college experience ourselves. When we were in college Marc loved coming to St. Mary's and USF, and we all loved meeting up in the city with Marc and his friends.

It brightened our hearts to see Marc have his beautiful daughter Natalie. She definitely got his wonderful sense of humor and like him, family is very important to her. We are so lucky to have her in our lives. It's been incredible to see our own kids look up to Natalie, just as we have always looked up to Marc. Our kids were very lucky to know their Uncle Marc, even if it was for a short time. They loved it when he gave them gum and candy, and enjoyed tackling him when they saw him, and always raced to see who could flick his ears first!

In past years Marc really enjoyed traveling to Italy and visiting our cousins in Sicily.  We were so excited every time he got back from his travels so we could hear his fun stories and get updates on our cousins. Italy was definitely his place. He has enjoyed his Giants' baseball games with Natalie and even took the baseball stadium tours across the country.  Of anyone we know, Marc had the best baseball card collection!

Marc also had a passion for cooking and food. He enjoyed entertaining family and friends with his daughter Natalie, and shared many interesting and creative recipes with all of us.

We laughed ALL the time when Marc was around, and always looked forward to spending time with him.  His jokes were great too (most of them off-color of course).  His laughter filled a room, and his memorable sneezes!!!

Our hearts are broken Marc, your were supposed to grow old with us...you left us way too soon. Thank you for bringing joy to our lives.  You will be greatly missed for the rest of our lives, as we will forever cherish our memories with you.  We love you Uncle Marc!

My thoughts and prayers are with you.  I went to SVDP and I was a bit older than Marc, but I certainly remember him because he was such a cute little boy and his mother was the epitome of elegance.

I was very sadddened to hear of Marc's untimely death. I was lucky to have known him over the last several years. We were both alumni of USF, though not at the same time. He had a very warm personality always with a great sense of humor and a smile. I will remember him fondly and hope your good memories of him will brighten your heart during this difficult time.

Dear Auntie, Tony, Linda, Tina and Family.  So very sorry to hear of the sudden loss of Marc.  You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

I met Marc only once –sitting across the table from him at a dinner party last year – but I fondly remember what a warm and engaging person he was that night towards me. All of his family and friends were very blessed to have had him in their lives. Why God would take someone so suddenly and in their prime is so unbelievably painful.. Mrs. Friscia, my deepest condolences to you and your family. I recently had the wonderful opportunity to see Mark at our class reunion which Mark and Dan Borgonovo put together. They worked so hard to gather everyone from all over the US to be together and reminisce about old times. Mark was always good about reaching out to all his friends and see what everyone was up to. I'll never forget spending time at your house with the other guys playing with Mark and all his great toys. You and Carl's warm generosity towards the neighborhood was such a good inspiration for all of us. Our class had wonderful parents and Mark had those same qualities he received from you and your husband. I will also never forget the big potluck dinners with all of our families above the gym on Friday nights. I currently live in New York City and will not be able to attend the services but I send my prayers and thoughts to all of you.

Marc will be missed dearly by all who loved him. Family  and those of us that are lucky enough to call him friend. He was a part of my SVDP days, which I hold many fond memories of hanging with Marc.

To Mark's mom Natalie. What fond memories of when we would see each other outside SVDP as we waited for our little ones to get out of school. We would watch for it, and if Mark was in the passenger seat, he would always wave furiously. The years fly by, and this kind of news is so unwelcome. How hard for a parent to lose a child and what can one say. My thoughts are with you and I send you my prayers.
