

Gordon A. McLean II, age 75 of Oak Harbor passed away peacefully on April 11, 2012 at Whidbey General Hospital. Born in Coronado, CA and son of a Naval Officer, he lived in many locations as a boy including Oahu, Hawaii and Lima, Peru.
He attended New Mexico Military Institute as a teenager and went on to become a graduate of Stanford University. Later in life he attained the rank of Captain in the U.S. Army and was very proud of time served. He loved the Mexican culture and the Spanish language so much so that he taught Spanish at SDSU. He owned a variety of retail businesses in the California area and enjoyed snow skiing, tennis and horseback riding.
Gordon was a lifelong musician playing guitar, percussion, standup bass and drums. He loved travel and had a special place in his heart for everything Hawaiian. His passion for the sea was evidenced by his love of surfing, sailing and snorkeling.
He was known for his huge sense of humor and loved making everyone laugh with his many jokes. He will be sorely missed not only by his family but by his many friends and acquaintances.
Gordon is survived by his wife Linda, his daughters Nicole (Rick) McLean Zorich and Susan (Jim) McLean Lucitt and his son Gordon III (Heidi) McLean and four granddaughters.
Preceded in death by his parents Rear Admiral Gordon A. McLean, Evalyn
Colvin McLean and sister Evalyn Merrivale Austin. With respect to his wishes, there will be no services.
