Rachel C. Short

Rachel Short, born on December 26, 1935, in Gradyville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, family, and a life well-lived. She was the devoted wife of the late Charlie Short.

Rachel had a long career in manufacturing with Miles Lab/Clorox, but her true passions lay in gardening, finding treasures at garage sales, and cherishing time with her beloved family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and love.

She is survived by her children, Joyce Chism, Kenneth Roach, and Robert Roach; her cherished grandchildren, Dawn Roach, Jodi Roach, Rose Roach, Stacy Knight (Darrell) and Richard Vulpitta (Jennifer); her adored grandchildren: Alex Arguello, Benjamin, Connie, Chloe Vulpitta; siblings: Jim Sneed, Helen Crawhorn, Robert Sneed, Earl Sneed, Lucille Hedburg, and Inez Borders, along with many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Rachel was a kind soul who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A visitation for Rachel will be held Thursday, September 18, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Chapel Hill Gardens South Funeral Home, 11333 South Central Ave, Oak Lawn, IL 60453.

A chapel service will occur Thursday, September 18, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 11333 South Central Ave, Oak Lawn, IL 60453.

A burial will occur Thursday, September 18, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Chapel Hill Gardens South Funeral Home & Cemetery, 11333 S Central Ave, Oak Lawn, IL 60453.
