I just heard about Mrs. Zintak's passing and I am so sorry.  A lovely women with a wonderful family.  George and Cookie - know I am thinking about you at this sad time.

What can I say about our favorite ever smiling neighbor---despite 4 rambunctious boys!! She was always one step ahead of you all as you well know, enjoying every minute of your lives from childhood through adulthood. Forever grateful that she was a "best friend" to our mom for so very many years --driving her for groceries or other errands, always supportive to her through good times & not such good times.  Growing up in an "automobile-less" household we kids were always appreciative of "that little green Falcon" with Shirley behind the wheel. Rainy or snowy days meant we could count on her to transport us & "any other strays" to and from St. Mary Star of the Sea. What a great lady.....always able to find the humor in all situations, and what a contagious laugh!
Thank you for sharing her with our family. To this day when I need a really unique bow for the top of a special gift, I make the one your mom taught us long ago. We admired her gift-wrapping skills, and one day she let us in on one of her trade secrets. It was so fun to know we could wrap at least one package as "fancy and professional as Shirley"!!
She certainly knew how to enjoy life.....seems like there should be quite the "KILDARE REUNION going on now in heaven"!

Your mom and dad were the best neighbors ever.  The "kitty" condo will forever be part of our family memories.  Shirley was one of the most kind, caring, and compassionate people I have had the pleasure of knowing in my life.  I hope your memories will help you through this difficult time.

It is 9AM Saturday morning as I read this after listening to Ceci's message, and my heart goes out to George, Tony, Ralph and David and all of your families. What a great lady she was! Truly my "Ma" in my memories! Reflecting, she embodied the very best that could be seen in the 50s and 60s examples of motherhood. Though I lost closeness after that, talking to George & Cookie, "Ma" moved into her life of volunteer work and grandparenting with the same kind of top notch dedication that could and would make her family proud. May all of us take some solace in those memories and live the lives of joy that "Ma" lived.

My thoughts are with all of you at this time of sorrow and remembrance. I remember Shirly & Tony ( & Grandma Zintak and the boys) from when I was a little girl of 6 or 7. I'll never forget Shirley teaching me how to make deviled eggs. My mom, Mary, kept in touch over the years, volunteering w/ Shirley at the animal shelter. But I will always remember Shirley as the kind, wonderful lady that delighted in my confusion over the removing and replacing of an egg yolk.

Shirley will be sadly missed.  She was the best volunteer we ever had at World Wildlife.  Shirley had such a tender spot in her heart for all animals and people.  She was an amazing person who always put others first, including the furred and feathered.  Rest in peace Shirley.  My thoughts are with the Zintak family at this difficult time.
