Della J. Chapp

On Saturday, April 6th, 2024, Della Jean Chapp (Dotson) passed away at the age of 89. Della was the beloved wife to the late John R. Chapp. She was preceded in death by her parents who cherished her, Ira Dotson and Dorothy (nee Blackburn) Dotson, her siblings; James Dotson, Franklin Dotson and Adlai Dotson.

Della was a loving mother to George Chapp, John I Chapp and Martha Blankenship and was the proud grandma to Amy Morales Chapp (Carmen), along with two grandsons and 3 great grandchildren. She leaves behind her siblings, Ira Dotson Jr, Helen Hall, Ella Mae Paredes, Johnny Dotson, Donnie Dotson, Delbert Dotson. Della will be missed by her many nieces and nephews that loved her dearly.

Della was a woman filled with love for her family. She was the eldest of 10 children being born and raised in Kentucky and was proud to be a coal miner's daughter. Della was a hard working woman both at work and at home she never left a task undone. She was a proud employee at West Suburban Hospital, Brachs Candy and of Tootsie Toys.

If you knew Della you knew what love truly was. That was her special gift and that will be her legacy.

Too often we don’t realize what we have until it’s gone. Too often we wait too long to say, “I’m sorry. I was wrong.” Sometimes it seems we hurt the ones we hold dearest to our hearts and we allow foolish things to tear our lives apart. Far too many times we let unimportant things into our minds and then it’s usually too late to see what made us blind. So, be sure you let people know how much they mean to you. Take that time to say the words, before your time is through. Be sure that you appreciate everything you’ve got. Be thankful for the little things in life that mean a lot.

A visitation for Della will be held Friday, April 12th, 2024 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, immediately followed by a funeral prayer service and then internment, at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home & Cemetery, 17w201 Roosevelt Road, Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois 60181.
