

Edward Francis Gilligan Sr., 91, of Glen Ellyn, who lived well in Pittsburgh PA. and Boca Raton Fl., passed away on Oct.10, 2010; beloved husband of Eleanor; dear father of Edward Jr. (Marianne), Dennis (Patti), Eileen Fill (Ken); grandfather of Michael, Jon, Dan, Tara, Shelby, and Darren; great-grandfather of Keegan, Emily, Riley, Tanner, Charlie, Callie and Fallyn.
Ed was born and raised in Pittsburgh PA. and worked 'for Bell Telephone Company of Pennsylvania until his retirement as a senior executive, where he relocated to Boca Raton FL. His Bell career was interrupted when he was called to lend his communications expertise to the U.S. Navy, serving as a Naval Officer in both World War II and the Korean conflict. In retirement, he gave generously of his time to the Telephone Pioneers of America, including service as their president.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home, 17W201 Roosevelt Rd. (One block West of Rt. 83) Oakbrook Terrace, IL. Funeral Mass 10:30 a.m. at St. Petroni lie Church (meet at Church) Glen Ellyn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dupage Community Clinic, a not for profit clime offering medical, mental and dental services for low income and uninsured residents of Dupage county.
