

Gene resided in Vicksburg and Moorhead, MS until 1940. With World War II approaching, he moved to Baltimore, MD to build warplanes. In early 1943 he joined the Wartime US Merchant Marines, achieving the rank of 3rd Officer, Navigation, aboard 9 Liberty and Victory ships, conducting 18 trips across the Atlantic and Pacific war zones. After the end of World War II, Gene resided in Washington DC, Baltimore and Salisury, MD, Syracuse and Rochester, NY, Bergenfield, New Jersey, and finally, 60 years in Lombard, Illinois.
Gene was the founder and president of Draik Midwest Company Inc. Gene has been an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan since 1926 and enjoyed playing tennis for over 80 years, world-wide.
Gene’s loving wife, Mildred, passed away in November, 1997, after 52 years of marriage. They were members of Christ Church of Oak Brook for 25 years.
Gene was a devoted father of Robin (Tom) Munsterman and the late Alan Kent; proud grandfather of Kent (Tina) and Matthew Munsterman; great-grandfather of Trigg and Knox Munsterman.
Gene is survived by his present wife, Danute.
Memorial Service and Entombment alongside his beloved wife, Mildred, will be Private at Chapel Hill Gardens West Mausoleum.
