

Joseph Cucchiara, a proud retired Chicago Police Officer, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2025, at the age of 76. Born in Chicago on May 25, 1949, Joe devoted his life to service, family, and friendship, leaving behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and strength.
Joe was a wonderful family man who cherished time spent surrounded by those he loved. Whether gathered for conversation, laughter, or quiet moments together, Joe found his greatest joy in the company of family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Wilkin; his daughters, Danielle Lamberti (Steve) and Brittany Perris (Alex), his step-daughters, Amy Shoemaker (Ryan) and Alisa Wilkin (Ivan Golden), his sister, Rita Lytle (Jim), nephews Jim Lytle and Michael Lynch. Joe also leaves behind 9 grandchildren (Aubrey, Gavin, Brenna, Adonis, Penny, Jackson, Zach, Alexandra and Frankie) and friends who will miss him deeply.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Cucchiara; his father, Charles Cucchiara; his mother, Minette Allegretti, his sister, Catherine Lynch; and his nephew, Joseph Lytle.
Outside of his devotion to family and friends, Joe enjoyed cars, electronics, cigars, and fishing—simple pleasures that brought him peace and happiness throughout his life. His stories, wisdom, and steady presence will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on December 29th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home in Oak Brook Terrace. The family will hold a private service at the burial site immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Joe’s memory to Shriners Children’s Hospital, honoring a cause close to his heart.
Joe’s life was one of service, kindness, and unwavering love. He will forever remain in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.
