
Marilyn was born on November 6, 1931, to John and Mary Byrne of Chicago. She was active in her church, was a member of the Lyric Opera in Chicago, and a member of the Riverside Historical Society. Marilyn was also a gourmet cook, fabulous baker, and an avid reader. She always had a smile on her face and was known far and wide for her wit and sense of humor.
The greatest joy in Marilyn’s life were her children: Linda Snoply (Mathews) of St. Charles, Tom Mathews of Homer Glen, Steven Mathews of Willowbrook, Pam Miller (Mathews) of Springboro, Ohio, and John Mathews Jr. of Woodbridge. The father of her children, John T. (Lily) Mathews also survives.
One of Marilyn’s greatest gifts were her 11 grandchildren: Andrew, Nicholas, Thera, Tom, Zach, Mallory, Jason, Cara, Matt, Mandy, and Ashley. Further blessings were her 10 great-grandchildren: Eli, Olivia, Sam, Luke, Kate, Jake, Sloane, Everett, Sophia, Evelyn, Andrew, and Brandi.
A visitation for Marilyn will be held on Friday January 13, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home, 17w201 Roosevelt Rd, Oakbrook Terrace IL, 60181, with a funeral service at 11:30. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery.
