Shirley Jean Jacobs, formerly of Downers Grove, IL, and Brooksville, FL, died Thursday, April 13, 2017 in Redlands, CA surrounded by her family.
Shirley was born Shirley Smith on October 8, 1927 in Galesburg, IL, the only child of the late Nevada Smith of Downers Grove, IL, and Elmer Smith.
Shirley graduated from Joliet Township High School and received her teacher's certificate in piano from the Joliet Conservatory of Music. Music was the joy of her life along with her family.
Shirley and her husband of 64 years, Kenneth R. Jacobs, made their home in Downers Grove for 40 years. They retired to Brooksville, FL in 1985 and eventually bought a home in Redlands, CA to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her four children, Don, Barbara, Jane, and Richard; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Carolyn Hoffman and her family.
Shirley will be laid to rest alongside her husband Ken on Saturday, May 6 following 11:00 am services in the Hippach Chapel, Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery, Oakbrook Terrace, IL. -
