Curtis Kjobech was born in Oakland, CA on July 30, 1953 to Christian and Jacqueline Kjobech. He was the fourth of five children. At two, the family moved to Castro Valley where he lived until 2001 when he and his family moved to Mariposa to be closer to his wife’s family. He had an especially close bond to his father-in-law, Gary Bull. Curtis had a passion for music and loved playing his guitar and did so in any setting he could, including local Mariposa watering holes. He worked for his Step-father, Paul Smith, as an upholsterer for several years before switching to cement mason and stayed with that until health issues caused him to retire. He spent the last 16 years enjoying the mountain life with his partner Shirli Alsup.
Curtis is survived by his partner Shirli Alsup, daughter Kelly and ex-wife Karen. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law, the Bull’s, sister Karen and brother Rodney. He is also survived by his sister Connie (Dick) West, sister Carlyn (Brad) Boggan, and stepmother Marian Smith.
