It is with a heavy heart that Greg’s family and loved ones report his recent passing. Greg was a fun, gregarious, generous and caring individual. His first concern was always for those less fortunate than himself, and he took steps to help. He was born April 14, 1958 in Ventura California. He formed lifelong friendships there, and after two years of living in Ahwahnee, he graduated from Yosemite Union High School (Class of 1977) and returned to Ventura. He was a passionate and skilled square dancer, and spoke often of the cross-country road trip he took to attend a convention in Florida in his early twenties. He spent a few years framing buildings when he lived in Palmdale with his first wife, Katie (Horning) Jines, whom he married in 1982. After the dissolution of his marriage he returned to the mountains and followed his father’s footsteps into the concrete pumping business. He married Kathleen (Beshears) Jines in Oakhurst in 1999, and remained married until 2010. He formed his own business, appropriately named, Greg’s Concrete Pumping, and served the Oakhurst and Mariposa areas from his home in BootJack, CA, until his passing.
Greg was the quintessential Mountain Business Man, trading favors and good will with all those with whom he had contact. He maintained a wide circle of friends with countless dune buggy and boating trips, and abundant laughter. Copious laughter. In fact, if you listen carefully, you can still hear it, it just seems to be coming from above now.
Greg lived a full and wonderful life, balancing work with pleasure and enjoying his friendships and family. He was taken from us by skin cancer, at far too early an age, and has left a hole in our hearts. Greg is survived by his girlfriend and partner, Judy McDonough of Bootjack, his parents, Jack and Diane Jines, of Oakhurst, his brother and sister-law, Alan and Beth Jines of Oakhurst, his sister Juli Jines of Kremmling, Colorado, and his nephews and nieces Nathan Jines of Oakland, CA, Bradley Jines of Scotts Valley, CA, Aspen Setaro of Pompano Beach, Florida, Kelsey Clayton of Big Fork, MT, and Bailey Reker of Elk River, MN, and their partners.
A web site has been established by Palm Memorial - Sierra Chapel (Greg's Memorial Web Page) where you can leave comments and share memories that will be enjoyed by his friends and family.
