Vivian Price-Pitts was born on June 2, 1939 in Woodville, Mississippi. She later moved to New Orleans where she departed in 1965 due to Hurricane Betsy with her four children, and later had a fifth child in Oakland, California. Vivian became a seamstress, and during this time she worked for a parachute company in San Leandro, CA. While working as a seamstress, Vivian began purchasing rental properties and continue to work many side jobs. Vivian then opened up her own restaurant called "Dottie's Soul Food" in Brookfield where she was well known as Miss Dottie." Vivian opened up her own Upholstery Shop in Hayward, CA . Vivian soon moved on to work at United Airlines for over 10 years. She divorced and met her second husband Harrison Pitts Jr. and lived the rest of her days in San Leandro CA
