She accepted Christ, at an early age and attended, along with her family, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church on Julia St. in Baton Rouge. Her formal education also took place in her hometown. After graduating from High School, she attended Grambling University in Grambling, LA and received a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Ms. Seward and her family moved to California in 1960 and lived in Oakland, CA.
She became gainfully employed with the Chevron Refinery in Richmond, CA for over 25 years as an assistant supervisor of packaging and labeling before retiring and changing direction, all together by teaching modern dance.
Ms. Seward will be remembered in the hearts and thoughts of those who knew and loved her as one who lived a happy life. Her favorite colors were pink and purple, and she thoroughly, enjoyed all types of dancing but, especially line dancing. She also liked watching basketball and tennis, gambling at the casinos and most of all, spending time with her family and dear friends.
Ms. Seward is preceded in death by her parents, six siblings, and her only son, Ivan Joseph Griffin. Two sisters: Ms. Ruth Ann Griffin and Ms. Anastasia Griffin are left to cherish her memory.
A private burial for Ms. Seward will be held at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in LaFayette, CA.
