Dear friend and mentor,
     I knew you when I was young and you were wise from years of living. I think of you often and share your wisdom with whoever is willing to listen. 
     We worked in Annapolis Md at the same time , I worked at CBU 403 as a USN Navy Seabee. I first met you working on the docks, I was installing shore power for the docks. Everyday you would greet me with a smile and ask me how my spiritual level was, a scale ranging from 1 to 10. I’m sure yours was a 9 or a 10. I still think about that often , my spiritual level. 
   Dear friend  I have been looking for you and have finally found you. I just wanted you to know that if you can read this in heaven . I haven’t forgotten you and I will never forget your spiritual level.

You know, it took me almost 50 years to realize what I absorbed in learning from Earle and Dottie. I never knew they had even taught me anything until then, and then I understood what I had missed. My love to you girls.

My sincere condolence to you Denyce, Pam, and Jeff....Earle was a caring father committed to family and following through on his dreams. I was especially fortunate to share in the "Denyce" building experience for six years and then cruising a bit on the "rewards" of our labor.

He taught by example, being ever so careful with every boat building detail, and this trait wove itself into his other endeavors.

I was fortunate to meet with him recently, to see his infectious optimism remained to the end,....he inspired and helped many during his long life...what a fine legacy.  He will be missed, but not forgotten.

You, sir, lived an amazing life and made the best of it. You leave a legacy of high adventure behind !!! A life well lived.

Earl & I worked together for many years at Small Craft in Annapolis.  It didn't take long for us to become close friends.  Earl was always upbeat & positive &  he was a walking, talking book of knowledge.  He was well versed in so many aspects of life.  He didn't just dream the dream he lived it to the fullest.  Over the years I have tried to copy his zest for life but I still haven't mastered the art of standing on my head.  Earl, my friend, you will be missed.

It was my great privilege and pleasure to have known and worked with the Captain. I was able to  observe him doing his work of healing massage and caring at the two Memorial Senior Partner Centers in Hollywood and Hallendale. I have spoken with several of his former clients, who have expressed their gratitude for his help and sadness.
I will remember his great intensity for life, thirst for knowledge, love of family, positive attitude and his capacity for listening, which made me feel loved and valued.
He shared himself and made me feel part of his adventurous life and part of his family!

I have always cherished the memories of helping Earle in the  building of the "Denyce". It wasn't so much the building, but Earle's enthusiasm, his appreciation of my help, and the many "life lessions" that he passed along those many years ago.

Our Dad had a wonderful and loving life thanks to all of you. He always said "LOVE is the most important word in the universe". He loved each and every one of you. Thanks for being a great part of his life.  We will miss him.

Dear Captain Earle was my great friend. And, he was, also, my work partner at the Memorial Senior Partners Center in Hallandale and Hollywood, FL. He did Foot Reflexology and I did chair massage. He was the best Foot Reflexologist this world has seen. He had amazing energy and a great knowledge of his craft. And, he transmitted this great energy and knowledge through his hands very well. There will never be another like him! Thank you, Captain.

 Captain earl, i already missed your company. speaking with you on the phone was always complicated,but rewarding none the less...i  will be doing a special float in the ocean, thinking of you. u were a blessed father figuer, for me. loved your reflexology, your reading from your book. yes i was one of the "lucky" people.

Capt'n Earl and his 1st Mate Dottie will always be in my heart.  They lived their dream!  While Earl worked at Petrini Ship Yard here in Annapolis, Dottie babysat for our daughter Sally while we were at work.  Sally is now 31 yrs and has a wonderful 8 mo. old son, Peter.  

Earl came to Fawcetts in the fall of 73, with Denise anchored out in the harbor with his family. At the time, they just left Situate, Mass. and supposedly, heading to FL.   When I heard he had two daughters on board, Pam and Denise,  I immediately rowed out to "see the boat."  We have all been family friends ever since. (should I mention the kerosene scent while wintering onboard--that's another story)   Earl, Dottie, and Denise (schooner) returned to Annapolis some years later.  Earl worked with us from age 60 to 79 working as a boat builder at the Naval Academy's Smallcraft Repair Facility.  Capt Earl did it right--lived his dream when he was younger and then got a "real job" when he was older.  We all loved Earl's never ending zest for life and his love and devotion for Dottie (his throttle and gear shifter when docking Denise--but again--that's another story). 

Earl and Dottie--we wish you fair winds, following seas, chilled wine, and cold drinks.....continue on that broad reach thru the heavens........

Pam, Thanks for sharing your wonderful father with Cherri and I here in Chestertown.  It was  so special sailing with the creator of his beautiful schooner the Martha White. Captain Earle is honored and talked about on a daily basis as we sail the Chesapeake Bay using her as a stage for our music and Saving the Bay.  What a  great man.  Thank you.

Dad had a very full & wonderful life!  I think the following would epitomize his thoughts:  "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened!"
