

Harry Rayford Holtzclaw, Jr. age 90, of Salt Springs, passed away April 27, 2014 at Sylvia’s Hospice House. He was born in Riceville, TN on July 2, 1923 to the late Harry and Rosalie (Millard) Holtzclaw, Sr. in addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a sister Marian Fariss and a brother Bill Holtzclaw. Harry was a US Navy veteran serving on the USS Stanley DD478 during WWII. He was in the Destroyer Squad 23 in the South Pacific and his ship was damaged by a Kamikaze attack while they were in Okinawa. His family fondly remembers his love of gardening, fishing and boating. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 63 years Jeane, a daughter Ann Dietrich of Salt Springs, son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Mary Holtzclaw of Phoenix, AZ, two sisters Jean Holtzclaw of Jamestown, NC and Jane Garman of Greensboro, NC, a granddaughter Katie Pederson of Paynesville, MN, and a great grandson Ryder Pederson also of Paynesville, MN. A visitation has been scheduled for Wednesday April 30, 2014 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. The funeral will be at St. George Anglican Cathedral on Thursday May 1, 2014 at 10:00am with burial to follow in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. The family suggests donations in lieu of flowers to Hospice of Marion County.
