John was born on August 20, 1941, in New York City, New York, to John Murray and Maria Maguire. He graduated from Chelsea High School and went on to being his career of over 28 years as a boilmaker.
He is survived by his son, John Jr, his sister, Eileen Murray, and nephews, Craig Lynch (Cheryl) and Michael Lynch (Mary). He is also survived by his life partner of over 20 years, Karen Castronovo. He is preceded in death by his son, Darin, and his sisters, Mary Lynch and RoseAnn Kohler.
John was an active member in his community as a member of the American Legion, The Villages Honor Flight Club, The Celtic Club and The Irish American Club. He earned the nickname of Mayor of The Villages for is bringing so many friends and relatives to The Villages.
A funeral service will be held at St. Timothy Catholic Church, located at 1351 Paige Pl, Lady Lake, FL, 32159, on November 24, 2025. The service will take place from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM. A committal service will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL at 11:30 AM.
