Maria Monserrate Thomasson

A beloved mother, grandmother and great grandma Maria Monserrate (Monse) Thomasson, 96, of Ocala, FL. passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 27,2026. Monse was born on February 19, 1929 in Vieques, Puerto Rico to her parents Foro De Leon and Matilde Bonano. A retired English teacher and a member of St. Jude Catholic Church of Marion Oaks. She enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and loved tending to her flower garden; her resilience and love for her family will be cherished forever.

Survived by one son: Forrest Lee Thomasson, Jr. and wife Diana of Soddy Daisy, TN.; 3 daughters: Anna Ortega and husband Dimas of Clermont, FL., Melba Deautriell and husband William of Pembroke Pines, FL. and Celeste Lorenzo and husband John of Land O Lakes, FL.; 1 brother Roberto De Leon; 4 sisters Carmen Lambert, Clotilde Garcia, Maria D Romero, Aida L Aviles,; 9 Grandchildren: Melissa Ortega, Cristina Ortega, Jonathan Deautriell, Nicolle Deautriell, Keara Parker, Jessica Thomasson, Sierra Thomasson, Krystle Lorenzo and Catheryne Lorenzo.; 6 great grandchildren: Reina Lockey, Ralph Parr V, Arianna Dorta, Pierce Lamotte, Raiden Parr and Olivia Junkovic.

A public visitation will be held on January 31, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, located at 5740 South Pine Ave, Ocala, FL 34480.

The funeral service will follow at the same location from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

A committal service will take place at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 5740 South Pine Ave, Ste A, Ocala, FL 34480, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm on the same day.
