He was born September 7, 1926 in Saint Catherine, Jamaica to Elizabeth Wallace and Humphrey Newell. He came to America on a work visa, became a US citizen, and married his wife, Eunice Newell. Wilstand retired as a dietician/cook from Kings County Hospital, Brooklyn, New York.
He was a loving, generous, and strong opinionated man who embraced his nieces and nephews as the children he never had. He enjoyed traveling, family gatherings, cookouts, and debating politics. He was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church men’s club.
Wilstand is preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Newell; mother, Elizabeth Wallace; father, Humphrey Newell; sisters Loretta Green, Isis Frazer; brothers D’Cuvley Newell, Solomon Newell. He is survived by lots of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who loved him dearly.
A celebration of Wilstand's life will be hosted by Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Ocala, FL, at a date and time to be determined. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 5740 S.
