It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Annette Edison. Annette, age 82, of Jackson, NJ was born October 11, 1943 and passed away on February 20, 2026. A remarkable woman whose warmth, caring, and joyful spirit touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
A devoted nursery school and Hebrew school teacher. Annette received her associate’s degree from Brookdale Community College and her bachelor’s degree from Thomas Edison State University. She shaped young lives with patience, wisdom, and love. In her nursery classrooms at The Jewish Community Center in Deal, NJ and the Roslyn, NY school district, she knelt to tie tiny shoes, wiped away tears, and celebrated every small milestone as if it were a grand achievement. Teaching Hebrew School at Temple Beth Miriam and Temple Beth El, she passed on traditions, stories, and values, nurturing not only knowledge but a deep pride in Jewish identity.
She had a gift for gathering people together. Whether at her beloved Breakwater Beach Club, where sunny afternoons were spent laughing with friends and family, or around her dining room table, she created spaces where everyone felt welcome. She was the consummate hostess — throwing themed birthday parties and card parties, setting a beautiful Seder table, and preparing so much food that no one ever left hungry. Her parties were filled with thorough, meticulous detail.
She loved her mahjong games — not just for the tiles and strategy, but for the camaraderie. The clatter of tiles and friendly table-talk were simply another way she built and cherished friendship and community.
Annette is survived by the love of her life and husband, Andrew Edison. She was endlessly proud of her children Barry and Scott, and her two daughters-in-law Joanne and Brenda, who mourn her loss. Annette will be remembered by her sister, Arlene, and her sister-in-law, Merle. Annette is also survived by her grandchildren Zach, Zoe, Paige and Todd, whom she celebrated their achievements, supporting their dreams, and showering them with unconditional love. She also had a tremendous amount of devotion and warmth towards all of her nieces, nephews, and cousins. She kept her home the same way she treated every day, by being inviting, comforting, affectionate, and generous.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Temple B’nai Sinai, 15 Fern Road, East Brunswick, New Jersey. Shiva will be on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday beginning at 4pm with Minyan services at 7:30pm each night. Shiva will be hosted on Tuesday and Wednesday at the home of Joanne and Barry Edison. Shiva on Thursday will be hosted on Thursday at the home of Brenda and Scott Edison.
Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she shaped, the traditions she passed down, the friendships she nurtured, and the family she adored. May her memory forever be a blessing and may the love she gave so freely continue to guide all who were privileged to know her.
