Dear Professor Jacoby,

And, here I was, asking my classmates about how to register this summer for your section in "Computer Programming Using Java" class, here at Middlesex County College, NJ; only to be met with the devastating news of your passing. My heart skipped a beat and I was speechless for a long time.

How? When? What happened? These are now the questions that will play in my head, over and over again. You were so full of life! You often talked about swimming with your friends. Not to mention the stock markets.
You were such a beautiful soul, and, by far the best professor any student could ever ask for. I remember your kind words to me: "Gilbert, you are going to make a wonderful programmer someday. I really and truly love how you code." No one has ever commented about my work like that, - like never! Oh my God!

Oh, how I long to hear such words, your words, your codes. It's like food to my soul. You will always be in my heart and will be sorely missed.

Rest in peace, my dear professor, rest in peace Betty Ann Jacoby!

Till we meet again!

I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Betty Anne Jacoby this past November on the OCC Campus. I was deeply saddened to hear of her sudden passing. Dr. Jacoby made me feel instantly at ease - and was so positive and reassuring while I was in her company. Although our paths only crossed once, it was her kindness (and passion for purple) that left a positive mark on me so much so that I wanted to leave a kind message in her memory.

As a neighbor of Betty Anne, it makes me so happy to read these beautiful memories from people she befriended, taught and had meaningful relationships with. I have lived across the street for 11 years and have only ever shared a wave and a smile. Betty Anne kept to herself mostly and her passing was a shock to all of us. Knowing that her professional life was fulfilling and seeing the happy photos posted makes me pleased for her. May she rest in peace.

Dr. Jacoby was one of the most amazing professors I have ever taken at Middlesex County College. She really had a passion for teaching and cared about all of her students. I learned a lot in her class. Any time I would have a question, I would email her and she would get back to me right away. I emailed her recently about visiting her during the class and i never heard back from her. It was very sad to hear she passed away. She will always be alive in our memories. Thank you for everything Dr.Jacoby

Wow... I can’t even put into words how upset and unspoken I am. I had her last semester at Ocean County College for a computer class and she was my #1 favorite professor ever to teach. After class, she would come over to talk to my friends and I and we would talk for hours. I am beyond grateful to have spent her birthday with her in class last semester, I remember the smile on her face when we gave her her birthday present. She had the cutest smile and her love for purple was so precious. Every day in class we would talk about where her outfit was from and the pieces of purple jewelry she would wear. We even talked about the swimming pool she would always go to and how much fun she always had. Professor Jacoby always had the brightest smile on her face while talking about her swimming sessions, she loved it. On the last day of class, I cried because I was going to miss talking to her everyday. Shortly after the semester ended, I asked her if she would write a letter of recommendation for me and she said she would LOVE to! What a kind, warm-hearted person she was... A few weeks ago, I emailed her regarding a test that she recommended me take, and I didn’t get a response. Usually she responds to me instantly. Today I found out, my favorite person to talk to, is gone. My heart is broken into pieces. She was such a beautiful, happy women. God bless her and her family.

Dear Bette Ann,
Even though I didn’t know you very well I
always enjoyed seeing you in the locker room as you were getting ready for your daily swim. You were always friendly and seemed happy to be there.
I was looking forward to seeing you at our mermaid dinner tomorrow night to share a few laughs. I know you were looking forward to it.
You’ve left us way too early and you will forever be remembered!
Rest In Peace.

Betty Anne,
It was a shock to find out you passed. You will be missed at the Mermaid dinner and at the Y. I know we didn’t see each other often but you were always friendly and you left this earth way too young.
