She was born August 22, 1930, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, the daughter of Louis and Sara (Frindell) Shafton. She met her beloved husband, Herb Reiss, while attending the University of Wisconsin in Madison. They shared 64 wonderful years of marriage, beginning in Brooklyn, New York and then Rockland County, New York, where they raised their three daughters. She and Herb then moved to Monmouth Beach in 1985, where they relished time with their children and grandchildren during their retirement. After her children were grown, Betty had a rewarding career as a travel agent. She was an incredible cook and baker, as well as a voracious reader and enjoyed Mahjong, Bridge and Atlantic City.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Herb, and her brother Elliot.
She is survived by her children, Marilyn, Vicki and Laurie; son-in-law Glenn; her grandchildren, Erica, Alissa, Sami, Lexi and Jared; and her great grandchildren, Nathan, Harrison, Jordan, Emilia, Aviva, Amaya, and Elias.
