Lorraine Judith Roffman, age 75, passed away on September 4, 2021. Lorraine was born in New Brunswick, NJ and raised in Freehold, NJ by her loving parents Sadie and David Metz. Lorraine met her future husband, Jeffrey Roffman, through her brother Martin. Jeff and Lorraine married in 1967 and eventually settled in Little Silver, NJ where she lived most of her life, raising all three of their children in the same home on Sherwood Road. Jeff established an Otolaryngology practice in the local area, and Lorraine quickly became adept as the Business Manager of his practice. She served as a driving force behind the financial success of the office for nearly 40 years until he retired in 2014. Prior to running Jeff’s practice, Lorraine was an elementary school teacher at St. Francis de Sales School for the Deaf in Brooklyn, New York. While she only taught for one year, she often talked fondly of this experience and how much she bonded with the children that she taught. True to form, Lorraine received the Tri-State Special Education Teacher of the Year award in that same year.
While Lorraine worked incredibly hard to make sure her husband’s business thrived, her true dedication and love in life was being a mother to her three children, Bonnie, Eric, and Todd. Lorraine was always happiest when surrounded by her family and friends. She cherished the countless family vacations, and some of her most treasured times were at family gatherings, especially on the Jewish Holidays. Lorraine's greatest joy was seeing her children, and later in life, her grandchildren, carry on the traditions that she loved so much as a child herself. She watched all three of her children get married and was present for the birth of her six current grandchildren, ages 22 months through 21 years. Those who were fortunate enough to know Lorraine will remember her as a warm, kind, caring, thoughtful, and generous woman who always made her family and her friends a priority. She was an avid collector of artist dolls and miniatures, accumulating one of the most impressive and distinguished collections in the nation. She was featured in several print and video publications throughout the years and well-known by other collectors and creators in the industry. Her home(s) beautifully showcased Lorraine’s passion, astonishing all who entered.
Lorraine is predeceased by her loving parents, David and Sadie Metz, and brother, Martin Metz. Lorraine is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Jeff; her daughter, Bonnie Troubh, her three children Jared, Jessica and Samantha, and their father, Jed; her son, Eric, his wife, Sabrina, and their children, Ashlyn and Shane; and her son, Todd, his wife, Erin, and their son, Jack. She is also survived by her brother, Larry Metz, and his wife Paula; her sister-in-law, Laura; and many nieces and nephews. Lorraine was a wonderful and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her courage, strength, integrity, kindness, generosity, passion, and love will be immensely missed by all who knew her.
The celebration of Lorraine’s life was held on September 6, 2021, at the Freehold Hebrew Benefit Society Cemetery in Freehold, NJ.
