

Simon Todres, 86, longtime resident of Colonial Terrace, Ocean, NJ and World War II veteran, passed away Sunday after a short illness. Born in New York City, raised in Farmingdale, NJ, Sid spent 60 years working as a top liquor salesman for the Allied Beverage Group until his sudden passing. He was a longtime member of Temple Beth Torah, The Jewish Community Center and The Elberon Bathing Club.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Lenore Todres in 2000. He is survived by his children Shelley and Peter Nussbaum of Farmingdale, Amy Todres and Eike Barthel of Princeton, Wendy and Gregg Winik and Ben and Leah Todres of West Long Branch, as well as his grandchildren Jesse and Kevin Mullins, Jayme and Jay Lowenstein, Marjorie Nussbaum, Max, Bari and Zachary Winik, Samantha and George Todres, and four great grandchildren as well as his very loving companion, Nancy Schwartz. He was predeceased by his parents, Molly and Benjamin and brothers Jack and Morris. He is survived by his sister Lillian Weber. He is also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law Miriam and Myles Turtz, Cherry Hill and Jacqueline and Fred Grayer, Moorestown, as well as many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. No one could tell the same stories better and as frequently as Sid. Sid loved spending time with family, gardening, fishing and working with his customers. His company had been after him to retire for years, but Sid wouldn’t hear of it. He worked until his death.
Services will be held at 11am, Wednesday October 3rd, at Bloomfield Cooper Jewish Chapels, 2130 Route 35, Ocean, NJ –phone 732-493-4343. Contributions may be made to Jewish Family and Children’s Services, Asbury Park, NJ.
