“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul. He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. – Psalm 23.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alvin “Lynn” Crowe, who peacefully left this world to be reunited with his beloved wife, Joleine, on Wednesday April 24, 2024. As he made his journey to the heavens, we take comfort in knowing that Lynn is now at peace, reunited with his soulmate. Lynn was a devoted husband, father, and friend who dedicated his life to his family and work.
As a teenager, his pride and joy was his red pickup truck with a cartoon decal in the back window, hence his CB handle name “Pink Panther”.
Lynn went on to marry the love of his life, Joleine Catherine Vardeman, December 17, 1976 in Odessa, Texas. Together, they were blessed with two daughters, Cheri and Melissa.
Lynn was a loving and dedicated parent who always put his daughters first. Through every triumph and challenge in life, he stood by their side. His love for them knew no bounds.
In his younger years he spent his free time as a volunteer firefighter and EMT for the Notrees and Goldsmith Volunteer Fire Departments. He also served as a Deputy Reserve for the Ector County Sheriff’s Department. Always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Providing for his family while working in the oilfield was something he took pride in. He eventually went on to become a foreman at Concho and was known as being an exceptional boss.
He adored his seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild, cherishing every moment spent with them. He was a devoted family man, always eager to create lasting memories with his loved ones.
Lynn enjoyed spending time outdoors with his friends, hunting together and sharing stories of their adventures. The tradition of meeting up for breakfast or dinner with his good friends was something he looked forward to. He often mentioned how much he cherished these moments and the bond he shared with them.
Lynn was always on the hunt for a good deal, whether it was scratching off a winning lottery ticket, hitting the jackpot on a slot machine, or finding steals on the clearance racks at HEB.
He had a special bond with his five Dachshunds, whom he affectionately referred to as his "poochies." He cherished each of them as members of his family. Their unconditional love and companionship are proof that dogs really are man’s best friend.
Known for his deep love of steam and freight trains, Lynn could often be found sitting on the front porch at his place in Louisiana watching them go by. He got to live out one of his greatest dreams when he was allowed to drive the very train that he watched everyday. He often shared his knowledge and enthusiasm about them with anyone willing to listen.
Lynn will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kind heart, generous spirit, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones will never be forgotten.
Lynn is preceded in death by his loving wife, Joleine Catherine Crowe, and his father Alvin Lewis Crowe.
Those left to cherish his memories are his two daughters, Melissa Lott and Husband Evan of Merryville Louisiana, and Cheri Thomas and husband Rusty of Goldsmith. Grandsons: Tyler Jones (Hazel), Braden Jones (Kaylee), Mason Thomas, Asher Lott, and Bryson Lott. Granddaughters: Haley Lott and Macee Thomas. Great Granddaughter: Brooklyn Jones.
