

Byron Briscoe Monahan, 21 passed away December 15, 2010. Byron was born July 21, 1989 in Odessa, Texas to Walter and Jamie (Wortham) Monahan. He graduated from Odessa High School in 2007. During his years at Odessa High, Byron was a well decorated high school athlete, who broke and currently holds several Odessa High records. He attended Tarleton State University, Odessa Junior College and currently attended Kilgore Junior College on a football scholarship.
He is preceded in death by his father, Walter Monahan, maternal grandparents, Bluitt and Tennie Mae Crow and Vonceil Monahan. He is survived by his loving mother, Jamie (Wortham) Monahan, beloved girlfriend, Karley Starrett and his beautiful daughter, Aubree Faith. Uncles and Aunts include: Richard and Pam Wortham of Leander, Tx, Mike and Jana Wortham of Lubbock, Tx, Cody and Leslie Woodfin of Wharton, Tx, Rod Monahan of Ft Worth, Tx, and Cousins include: Lindsey and Heath Hines of College Station, Tx, Erin Wortham of Austin, Tx, Dalton and Casey Woodfin of Wharton, Tx, Tyler Monahan of Ft Worth, Whitney Moss of Oklahoma City, Maren Whitehead of Ft Worth, many friends and teammates across the state..
The funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2010 at Belmont Baptist Church in Odessa, Tx, with Rev. John McLemore officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Business 20, in Odessa, Tx. Services entrusted to Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home.
Byron loved sports. He was intense, a fierce competitor, the player and the Go-to Man that was always counted on for so many of his GOD given talents. He amazed us all thru the years with the games and races that he ran. Byron surrounded himself with wonderful people that supported him throughout his life. The cornerstones of his life were his mother Jamie Monahan and his grandparents NeNe and Papa. The love of his life was Karley who gave him a smile and a twinkle in his eye. He was also blessed with his beautiful daughter Aubree Faith. He was the happiest when he was with them. Byron loved his family, his friends, and his teammates with all of his heart and he gave all that he could give. The clocked ticked down and the lights faded, he just wanted to say “LOVE Ya and I’LL SEE YOU AGAIN.”He had his struggles and obstacles that he overcame but in the end he won the final victory.
