Christina (Leija) Castillo

Christina Leija Castillo (Boo-Boo) came to an end of her journey on December 28, 2018 at 6:58 AM when the Lord called her to home with a sweet kiss and open arms at the age of 52. She was born on December 19, 1966 in Odessa, Texas to Frank and Jessie Leija who preceded her in death. She lived her life daily as a devoted wife, mother and the best grandmother anyone could ever ask for. She was in love with her soulmate who she devoted 36 years of endless love to, Rojelio (Roy) Castillo.

My mom loved to love on people. She had one of biggest, caring hearts and a smile that would warm up a room. She taught me how to love others, especially the lonely, elderly, sick and the less fortunate. She instilled the most caring morals in me that I have learned to share with my family. Her hands were rarely still for if she wasn’t in the kitchen making homemade food (especially tortillas) for her family she was staying busy making blessing bags for the homeless and the organization she was devoted to Works of Faith advocates for the homeless. If you knew my mom, she would always make sure you had a full belly when you went to visit. She loved all of her nieces and nephews endlessly. You would never leave her home without a snack bag filled with juice, fruit and a cookie snack. Not only did she love people, she loved God’s beautiful creations. She loved all animals from the ones that crawled on the floor to the beautiful butterflies in the sky. She made sure she got up and fed the birds every morning because she loved to hear them sing outside of her window. Her life was a living example of her favorite bible verse, Ephesians 4:32- “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgive one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”

She is rejoicing in heaven with her brother, Johnny Leija and sister Irene Leija Rosales.

She leaves to treasure her beautiful memories: Husband. Rojelio (Roy) Castillo, their only child, Teena Marie Castillo and her fiancé Dimitrius Lujan. Her ultimate prizes in life, her grandson’s who were her word and shining armor’s, Evyn Royce Castillo, Jaysten Frank Lujan, Bryden Raye Lujan and Zayn Christian Lujan.

To her siblings here on earth: Brother, Jerry Leija (Odessa, TX); sisters, Frances Pizana (Bakersfield, CA), Gloria Campos (Odessa, TX), Patricia Papion (Bakersfield, CA), Nancy Castillo (Odessa, TX), Amanda Ruiz (Odessa, TX) and Jessica Marrufo (Austin, TX). I thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving my mom the ultimate support and love when she needed it the most and never leaving her side. From coming by to keep her company to reading her books and cooking with her. The bond you all had was an amazing gift from God. The unity of love and compassion you all shared will never be forgotten.

A very special thank you to Dr. Suresh Prasad MD and Dr. Venkata V. Adimoolam MD for you loving, caring hearts and knowledge you gave to my mom. The ICU nurse Andrew at MCH for doing your very best every hour and second to care for my mom. Thank you to the Curbside Bistro for providing gracious meals to our family and nursing staff during the holidays at the hospital. 2 Corinthians 1:3

A visitation for Christina will take place on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 9am – 8pm with a Rosary to take place at 7:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held in the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 2:00 pm.
