Doris Imogene Greer

She married Ishamel Worth Greer on Aug. 15, 1946. They made their home in Borger, Texas until

Ishamel surrendered to preach in 1960. They moved to Springfield, MO. where he attended Baptist Bible College. Their 44 years of pastoring began at Rose Hill Baptist Church outside of Willard, MO. then continued at Bible Baptist Church in DeQuincy, LA. They pastored Berean Baptist Church in Lubbock, TX. for 16 years before moving to San Angelo and pastoring Bethel Baptist Church for 18 years. After retiring in 2002, they helped with a ministry at Bethel Baptist Church in Grape Creek, TX. until health issues interfered.

Doris blessed the hearts and lives of countless people as a pastor’s wife for 44 years. Her beautiful voice, loving heart, and passion for teaching resulted in leading many children and adults to Christ.

Doris started painting in Lubbock, TX. at the age of 56, where she became a member of the Lubbock Art Assoc., and after moving to San Angelo, she was an active member of the San Angelo Art Assoc. Her professional quality paintings have hung in galleries around West Texas and are highly treasured by everyone fortunate enough to own one or more. Her passion and career as a painter spanned over 30 years.

She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Dr. Ishamel Greer; four children Charles Reynolds and his wife Linda of Odessa, Nancy Blake and her husband Keith of Tulsa, OK., Ippy Neil Greer and his wife Allison of Levelland, TX., and Cindy Moore of Odessa; six grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed by all.

Family will receive friends Thursday, December 8, 2011 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Funeral will be Friday, December 9, 2011 10:00 a.m. at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Chapel with Pastor Johnny Thomason of Life Change Baptist Church officiating.

Interment will follow at Ector County Cemetery.
