Doris was born in Oklahoma on June 9, 1928 to Hortense and Winston Yeary and grew up in Pettit, Texas. Doris met her husband, Bill Hill, on his return from the air force at the Rexall Drug Store in Levelland, Texas. They brought two daughters into the world, Linda Leyva (Diego) and Lori Laughlin (John Rose) both of Odessa. The family moved to Odessa from Levelland in the early fifties. After Bill’s death in 1983, Doris married Bob Monk of Odessa in 1988. Doris loved her family especially her grandchildren, Brandon Leyva, Casey Leyva, and Kate Laughlin. She was recently given a great-granddaughter, Abigail Laughlin. Abby’s parents are Kate Laughlin and Blake Thornton. Doris had a great sense of humor and was quick to joke with you when you least expected it. She would listen to all you had to say without judgement even if she did not agree. She never held grudges and was always willing to help her family whenever they needed it. Doris never complained about feeling bad and always wanted to do things herself. Doris is survived by her two daughters, two grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two sisters, Wilma Friedman of Abilene and Joan Harris of Pensacola, Florida; one sister-in-law, Bobbie Yeary of Odessa, one brother, Jim Yeary (Celia) of San Marcus. Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Bob Monk, her grandson, Brandon Leyva, four sisters: Naoma Warren of Dallas, Juanita Johnson of Levelland, Fern Qualls of Pensacola, FL., Glenda White of Whitharral. Also preceding Doris is four brothers: Lloydell Yeary of California, Leland Yeary of Abilene, Delma Lee Yeary of Odessa, and Darwin Yeary of Pensacola, Florida.
Funeral Service will be Thursday, April 12 at 10 a.m. at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Levelland. There will be visitation Wednesday evening April 11, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. also at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
