Doris Ann Roberts

She was born August 17, 1944, in Odessa to Delbert and Dortha Perkins. Doris attended school in Odessa, graduating from Ector High School in 1962.

Doris cherished her West Texas roots and was very active in her community. She worked for Town and Country Drug Store in the late 60’s and early 70’s, for ECISD as a bus driver while her young children were in school, and in 1980, she went to work for Odessa College in Human Resources and was promoted to the staff of KOCV in its beginning. She later was the office manager for the Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang and ended her working career with Shelton Specialties as a part-time receptionist.

Doris participated in Leadership Odessa in the early to mid-80’s and was an active member of the Permian Basin Fair Board of Directors since 1978, serving as their board president in 1985. Being a member of the fair organization was one of her most treasured accomplishments. She loved and adored her fair family. Doris was also an active member of Life In Grace Lutheran Church.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Donita Perkins, and her grandson Tanner Seedig.

She is survived by her husband, Brad Roberts of Odessa, one daughter, Lori Hostas and husband Marcus of Midland, two sons, Larry Roberts and wife Ludeana of Riesel, and Lloyd Roberts and wife Jana of Midland, a wonderful brother and sister-in-law Dan and Marsha Perkins of Kerrville. She is survived by six grandsons, two granddaughters, two great-grandsons, four great-granddaughters and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at 6:00 p.m. at Life In Grace Lutheran Church, 1009 North Tom Green with Celebration of Life service at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 824 East 18th on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Becky Hand officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in the Fountain section.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Permian Basin Fair Scholarship fund (3801 Ioma Odessa, TX 79762 please note it Tanner Seedig) or Life in Grace Lutheran Church building fund, PO Box 497 Gardendale, TX 79758.
