Elena Villarreal was born in Balmorhea, Texas on May 30, 1946 to the late Felipe Hernandez and Juanita Pacheco. She lived in Balmorhea and Saragosa, Texas until she married and moved to Odessa, Texas where she lived for the rest of her life. She married Juan Castillo and had four children before he passed away on July 16, 1969. She later married Antonio Villarreal and had a son; they were married for many years. She earned her GED and later went on to receive an Associate’s degree from Odessa College. Elena had a tremendous work ethic and worked for Baker Hughes for many years until her retirement working in quality control and inventory. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and praying the Rosary with her sisters every day. She enjoyed attending church at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Odessa and sponsoring a child abroad.
Our mother, Elena, was a wonderful soul who was loved by many and will be greatly missed. We will miss her smile, her sense of humor, and most of all, the unconditional love she showed us all. She was widowed at a young age, so she worked tirelessly to provide for her family. She was also strong in her Catholic faith and looked forward to rejoicing in the Lord and reuniting with her family members up in heaven. We are heartbroken that she is no longer with us, but joyful that she is resting in peace. We love you, Mom!
Elena Villarreal is survived by her children, Adolfo Castillo (Anabel), Dalia Benavides (Raul), Leticia Gutierrez (Hector), Marco Villarreal (Sonia); sisters, Amparo Galindo (Rey), Oralia Tavarez, Carol Mendez and Mendez sisters 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other friends and family.
