Born on February 19, 1939, in Alpine, Texas, Elodia was the daughter of Fidel Marquez Sr. and Maria Alarcon Marquez. She was a woman of many talents, boundless compassion, and a heart full of grace.
Affectionately known as Elodia, Yoya, Edie, or Ms. D, she answered to many names—each one a reflection of the unique connections she cultivated throughout her life. A gifted seamstress, Elodia created beautifully quilted blankets, delicate baby gifts, custom clothing, and hand-sewn treasures that continue to warm the hearts of those she loved.
Her kitchen was a place of nourishment and joy, where every dish told a story. Whether running her restaurant or opening her home to others, she had a gift for making people feel welcome and cared for. In her later years, Elodia fostered young girls, giving them a place to be loved, guided, and seen.
Elodia’s legacy is one of unwavering love, strength, faith, and generosity. Her quick wit, tireless spirit, and impeccable style made her unforgettable—and her kindness, ever enduring.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated team of Focused Care in Fort Stockton, both Dr. Medina and Dr Velasquez and staff at Pecos County Memorial Hospital, along with Interim Home Care and Hospice for their excellent care.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Elodia’s memory to Concho Valley Home for Girls, a cause that was dear to her heart.
She is survived by her beloved children: Edna Vega of Fort Stockton, TX; Noreen Arcides of Lafayette, LA; Ramon R Blanco Jr “Boy” of Odessa, TX; Monique Dominguez of Fort Stockton, TX; Sylvia Dominguez James and husband Neil James of Ruckersville, VA; Annette Dominguez d’Easum and husband Jon d’Easum of Missouri City, TX.
