Georgia Anna "JoAnn" Laird

JoAnn was born to Dick and Pauline Yates on April 29th, 1932, in Fort Worth, Texas. She grew up in Arlington, Texas, with her parents and younger sister, Dixie.

Throughout JoAnn’s entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. She became a member of First Presbyterian Church in Odessa in 1949 when it was a small frame building on 7th and Texas. Her father, Dick Yates, was a member of the building committee for First Presbyterian Church’s current building.

JoAnn met Calvin in 1949 at Odessa High School. Calvin and JoAnn celebrated their marriage at the church on August 19th, 1954. They went on to have three children: Linda, Tommy, and Becky.

JoAnn joins her mother and father in Heaven and is survived by her husband Calvin, sister Dixie, three children Linda Pierce (Donny), Tommy Laird (Judy), and Becky Rector (Rodger), nieces, nephews, several grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and even a few great-great-grandchildren.

A public visitation for JoAnn will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home, 601 N Alleghaney Ave, Odessa, Texas 79761. A graveside service will occur Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Ector County Cemetery, 300 S Dixie Blvd, Odessa, Texas 79761. A memorial service will occur Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 1:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 1401 N Sam Houston Ave, Odessa, Texas 79761.
