Gilbert Ramirez Herrera

Gilbert Ramirez Herrera, age 85, left this world to be with his Lord and Savior on December 15, 2014. A Rosary will be held Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.at Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home. Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home with graveside services immediately following. He was born on March 12, 1929 in Coyame, Chihuahua to Jesus Manuel and Adela Ramirez Herrera. After meeting his wife Esther Jacquez Herrera he relocated to the United States finally landing in Portales, New Mexico where he spent the majority of his life raising his family. Gilbert spent most of his life as a cowboy, working on a ranch, breaking horses and working cattle. Gilbert and Esther were married December 25th, 1958 in Coyame. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Esther Herrera. He is survived by his son Jesus Manuel Herrera, of Odessa, and his children; his daughter Socorro Herrera, of Manhattan, KS, and her 4 children; his son Gilbert Herrera, Jr., of Manhattan, KS, and his 2 children; and his son Richard and wife Kendra Herrera, of Odessa, Tx., and their 6 children. Gilbert was dearly loved by his seventeen grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
