Gwen Wallace

Gwen was a Christian woman who believed in living her life for God. She was a member of Life Challenge Church for years and also attended Temple Baptist. Gwen enjoyed many hobbies over her 97 beautiful years. She was a self-taught cook and exceptional baker. She worked in many restaurants and was famous for making everything from scratch. Besides being an avid cook, Gwen also enjoyed sewing and gardening. She loved to plant flowers and had some of the prettiest around. Gwen had an exceptional memory and loved to tell stories to her loved ones about her life, the past, and historical dates and times in history. She spent much of her later years watching old westerns, working cross-word puzzles, and reading.

April 12, 1934, Gwen married her husband Ivan Wain Wallace. Together they had 5 children and raised them, side by side, until his passing in January 19, 1968. Gwen also had 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and even several great-great grandchildren. Gwen was a giving, loving woman and was kind to everyone she met. Anyone who was lucky enough to meet her, loved her. She will always be remembered as a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Kathryn Wallace; a granddaughter, Sue Earline McCain ; three brothers, Kenneth, Keith, and Hal Foster; two sisters, Madelyn Wells and Merlene Pierce.

She is survived by two siblings, Daniel Foster (Clare) and Dean Rutledge; her children, Freddie Wallace (Helen) of Dallas, TX; Willie Wallace of Alice, TX; Sue Spoon of Odessa, Betty Wilkerson (Wesley) of Odessa, TX; 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and numerous others.

Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Wilson W. Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Wilson, 4635 Oakwood Dr. Odessa, Texas. The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during such a difficult time.
