I loved having ms.Grewell for a sub. I remember in junior high ever since 7th grade I would always want to have her there to be apart of my day. When my grandmother passed it was like she was another grandma to me. I got to see her in the hallway one last time this year when I revisited my teachers. I'm a sophomore now at OHS and whenever I have a sub I would wish for her to be there. She was an amazing person and hearing of her passing made me sit down and cry. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. God bless her beautiful soul.

Mrs Grewell was an amazing substitute teacher at Bowie. Anytime that we found out theat she would be subbing for our teachers, the whole class' faces just lit up the room like a campfire. I remember her subbing for Mrs. Husband all the time, and I sat in front, always watching her smile, and giving her a hug when we passed each other in the hallways. I will never forget her:)

I wish to express my deepest sympathy to the family.  I will truly miss Helen at Bowie.  She was a good coffee buddy in the morning.  It was a pleasure to know her and for her to have taught my boys when she was a sub.  Goodbye dear friend will never forget you.

I was a student at Bowie Jr.High last year and I know everyone did love Mrs.Grewell. She was the kindest most gentle soul ever. Even after I left Bowie I saw her at the Kookie Carnival and taking a photo with her. She wasn't just a substitute. She was a friend. Everyone loved her dearly and walking into a room and having her as a sub was fantastic. I never heard one bad thing about mrs.grewell. I know she had an impact on kids lives because kids at OHS the students whom heard about her passing were very sad and had this feeling of emptiness because we knew we wouldn't see the sweetest,most amazing and caring substitue and friend ever. Her family and friends are in our prayers at OHS. God bless her.

Gabe and Mr. Grewell,
I am so terribly sorry for your loss.  I will always remember how sweet and caring Mrs. Grewell was to me whenever I saw her during my high school years. She was a special lady. You both will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Mrs. Grewell truly was a member of the Bowie family. She substituted for me numerous times over the years; but what I really remember is how sweet, friendly, and lively she always was. She was such a kind-hearted soul, and we all loved her very much. It is not unusual for junior high students to make negative comments about a substitute teacher, but over the years what I heard most often was, “I love Mrs. Grewell.” Also commonly heard, “I hope Mrs. Grewell is our sub! Mrs. Grewell LOVES me.” One might think this was being said sarcastically coming from junior high students, but these remarks were completely serious and genuine. The students knew she liked working with them, and they liked her right back. Mr. Carter noted the silence in her honor when the announcement of her passing was made at school. I would also like to note the numerous expressions of love and remembrance made by many former students. Not many of us remember our substitute teachers years after we have left school, but she was special to them. I miss her tremendously, but she left a legacy of love, caring, and kindness with those of us who were blessed to know her.

My dear precious friend who I loved visiting with every time I saw her about how much we loved our "babies".  She was an amazing lady who made an impact on countless lives of all ages! I will miss her.  Prayers and lots of love to Charlie, Gabe, Connie and of course, the "babies".

What a blessing to have known Mrs. Grewell.  She was such a sweet friend and I will miss her so much.  Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers at this time.

Mrs. Grewell, or Helen, as she insisted, was like a mother to me.  She taught me how to cook pork chops the way my mom use to.  She was one of the kindest women you could ever have the pleasure knowing.  I consider myself to have been blessed with her friendship for many years and I will miss the hugs she gave me every time we met.  You could have heard a pin drop throughout the entire building when our principal annouced her passing to the school.  She was loved that much.  She still is.

Charlie and Gabe, I'm so sorry to hear about this. She was a fantastic person who made all of our lives better. She was always a person who could make your day better just by her presence. She will be greatly missed. Please accept my condolences.

A very special lady.  Mrs. Grewell substituted for me on several occasions here at Bowie, but her warm smile and heart-felt greetings were experienced even when she was "in the building" for someone else.  She will be missed by all. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
