Humberto V. "Slim" Lara

Mr. Lara at the age of 84 passed away Tuesday December 22, 2015 at his Residence surrounded by his children.

He was born July 26,1931 in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico to Jesus DeAnda Lara & Ursula Valdez and brought to Marfa as an infant & was raised there. Mr. Lara was a devout Christian Catholic.

Slim is preceded in death by the love of his life, Ernestina ”Maya” Cordova Lara, Parents, Jesus D and Ursula V. Lara. Brothers, Manuel Lara, Jose Lara, Guillermo Lara, Laurencio V. Lara; Sisters, Jesusita Venegas & Irma Salgado.

He is survived by Daughters, Margie C. Lara of Odessa, Texas, Blanca L. Diaz and her Husband Joe of Round Rock, Texas, Liza Michelle Sturgeon and Husband Jeremy of Corpus Christi, Texas. Son, Humberto ”Boy” Lara Jr of Odessa, Texas. Brothers, Daniel Lara & wife Blasa of Odessa, Texas. Sisters, Carmen Aguirre & husband Gillermo of Buda, Texas & Lucilla Carrasco & husband Cheno of Odessa, Texas. He was blessed with 9 Grandsons, 7 Great grandchildren & a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, & many Friends.

We the Lara Family would like to take this time and express our utmost sincere gratitude to each and every one of you for all your prayers ,floral, and food offerings and especially your presence with us during this most difficult time. We would like to especially thank Dr .J.B. Naidu, Irene, Candy, Christina, Mary, and his entire staff for 30+ years of friendship and special medical service. Pallbearers are his grandsons, Roman Venegas, Samuel Lara, Humberto Lara III, Jonathan Sturgeon, Joseph Sturgeon, Joshua Sturgeon, Rene Lara, & Son-in-law, Jeremy Sturgeon, Honorary Pallbearers are his grandsons, Michael Lara, Royce Sturgeon, Jackson Sturgeon, Son-in-law Joe Diaz, & dear friend Troy Claxton.

Visitation will be held today Sunday December 27, 2015 from 5pm to 9pm & Monday December 28, 2015 from 8am to 9pm with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7pm at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel.

Celebration of life and Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 1:00pm Tuesday December 29, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with Rev. Mark Woodruff officiating.

Internment to follow at Ector County Cemetery, Rose Hill Section.
