

He was born on December 24, 1924 in Mercedes, Texas, to Acencion and Calixtra.
Jesus served his country in the Army during World War II. He served as Corporal in the 32ndInfantry Regiment in Korea and was issued the World War II Victory Metal and the Army of Occupation Medal. Mr. Huerta served in the VFW Honor Guard, Texas Post #15045.
After his military service in March 1947, he returned to South Texas and married Virginia Pena Castillo. They were married 54 years and raised their 3 sons (Jesse Jr., James and Joey) in Plainview, Texas.
Jesus was a dedicated member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Crucillo Movement (Catholic Retreats), and Knights of Columbus in Plainview, Texas. He also retired as an Auto Mechanic for Sears with more than 25 years of dedicated service. Upon his move to Odessa in 2004, he became an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church until his passing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Virginia.
Jesus is survived by his 3 sons: Jesse Huerta Jr. and wife Leticia of Brea, California, James Huerta and wife Elva of Friendswood, Texas and Joey Huerta and wife Alma of Odessa, Texas; grandchildren: Tabitha Fresquez, Melissa Huerta, Eric Huerta, Leslie Dimas, Joshua Huerta, Timothy Huerta, and Jeffrey Huerta, and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Concha Bocanegra of San Antonio, Texas and Roque Sanchez Jr of Davenport, Iowa.
Pallbearers:Joshua Huerta, Eric Huerta, Timothy Huerta, Victor Dimas Jr, Victor ‘Trey’ Dimas and Mingo Rodriguez, Richard Fierro.
Visitation will be held today, Tuesday September 9, 2014 and Wednesday September 10, 2014 from 8am -9pm, with a Rosary @7pm on Wednesday at Odessa Funeral Home.
Mass will be on Thursday September 11, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St Mary’s Catholic Church, 612 E. 18th St., with Rev. Hillary officiating.Interment will follow at Ector County Cemetery Rosehill Gardens Section.
