

Johnny was born in Odessa, TX on October 29th, 1949 to the late Parvin Lee Scarborough and Johnnie Helen Chaney Scarborough. He attended Odessa High School until 1967 then entered the United States Army. He served his country in the 1st Platoon Bravo Company 1/5 Infantry, during the Vietnam war until discharged with a Purple Heart in 1968. He married Gayle Yvonne Vowell on July 29, 1972 they were married for 52 years.
He worked as an area operator at Mid-America Pipeline company until he retired and bought Fun City of Odessa. His primary interest were gambling of any type including poker, slots and table games. He loved kids, animals and having people around. He was a member of the VFW Odessa, CCC and Kojack’s poker clubs.
Johnny is survived by his wife of 52 years Gayle Scarborough. His children - Johnny Merle Scarborough Jr, Linda Dawn Storrie, Shane Lee Scarborough, Justin Kyle Scarborough and Jason Keith Scarborough. His grandchildren – Chance, Taylor, Chandra, Nathan, Tayler, Connor, Haley, Jobe and Logan. His great grandchildren – Mayci, Casen, Madison and Easton. Nieces and nephews – Billy (Skip), Ricky Dale, Machelle, Jeffrey, Jubel, Barry, Toy, Kenny, Teri, Barbara Jean and Kayla.
Johnny is preceded in death by his parents Parvin and Helen Scarborough, his sisters Wanda Smith, Barbara Chester and Peggy Culpepper, his brothers Corky Scarborough and Wendell Scarborough.

A visitation for Johnny will be held Sunday, May 11, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home, 601 North Alleghaney, Odessa, TX 79761. A funeral service will occur Monday, May 12, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 601 North Alleghaney, Odessa, TX 79761. A committal service & burial will occur Monday, May 12, 2025 from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home, 6801 E, Odessa, TX 79762.
