Leonard Martinez rose to meet the Lord on May 16th, 2019, after living in a fragile healthy for several years. Born in Los Angeles, California on January 19, 1932, Leonard was one of nine children born to Zeferino and Pauline Martinez. The family moved to Monahans, Texas where Leonard grew up and married Helen Palafox on May 29, 1954. Leonard served our country while enlisted in the Army, during the Korean War, where he received the Purple Heart and was honorably discharged on December 3, 1959. Together they raised five children while Leonard worked as a welder in the oil field business for over 60 years.
Leonard is preceded in death by his wife; Helen, his parents, and seven siblings: Max, Leo, James, David, Paul, Helen and Lupe. He is survived by his brother David and his wife Karolin, his daughters; Nellie Torres and husband Larry, Karen Jones, his sons; Martin Martinez and wife Nattie Z. Luis Martinez and wife Jeanie, Benjamin Martinez, and Mark Malloy, his grandchildren; Luisa Torres, Landon Nicholas Torres and wife Lisa, Megan Martinez, Toni Moreno Castillo, AnJanette Moreno, Great-granddaughter Emily Galindo.
Leonard was a loving husband and fathers. A devoted catholic, and mason who worked hard, lived life honorably, and with integrity. Spending time with family and friends made him happy.
