Merle Elizabeth Pearson met her Heavenly Father at her home at Brookdale in Odessa, Texas on March 2, 2018. She married the love of her life, Earl Adam Pearson, Sr. on August 14, 1942. They shared fifty-nine years of marriage. She loved her Lord and His church, First Baptist Church in Odessa.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Among her many gifts, she was a constant encourager, a prayer warrior and committed to family at all times. She touched many lives with her prayer life and her committed time spent with her Savior. No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind can conceive what God has prepared for those who love Him.
Merle was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Pearson, Sr., her daughter-in-law, Sue Pearson, parents Rachel Bell and Carl Franklin Gibson, sisters Shirley Wilkerson, Rachel Dzienowski, Hallie Bishop, Vivian Nesloney, Earlene Gibson; brothers Shelton Gibson and Carol Gibson.
She is survived by sisters, Rosa Lee Owens of Mt. Enterprise, TX, Patsy Malik of Shiner, TX; brothers, Elwyn Gibson and Sammie Gibson of Gonzales, TX, and Aubrey Gibson of Luling, TX, four children Earl Pearson, Jr. of Baton Rouge, LA, Judy Cobb and husband Eddie of Waxahachie, TX, Barbara Ellis and husband Jimmy of Houston, TX and Sandra Beard and husband Randy of Odessa, TX. Ten grandchildren and twenty nine great-grandchildren.
Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Services will be held March 5, 2018 at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home in Gonzales, TX., at 10:00 a.m.
The family is very thankful for our extended families Betty Gray, Darlene at Darlene’s Elder Care, all associates at Brookdale and Compass Hospice that have so lovingly cared for our Mother.
