Miriam Powell, 88, was called to her heavenly home on December 23, 2020. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, aunt, and friend. Miriam was born February 23, 1932 to parents James and Nettie Warrick in Garvin, Ok and was the youngest of 13 children born to them.
Miriam graduated from high school in Valliant, OK and moved to Odessa in 1954. She married Miles Powell February 22, 1955. She spent most of her adult life doing what she was passionate about, singing in church and teaching Sunday school. She was a dedicated employee at Region 18 Education Service Center for 22 years where she retired from. Her smile and positive demeanor meant that she always made new friends wherever she was.
Miriam was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Miles, her sons Jimmie, Bill, and Bob, nine brothers, and three sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Cherryna and Janie, thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Viewing will be held at Odessa Funeral Home Monday, January 4 from 6-8 pm and services will be held at Sunset Heights Baptist Church on Tuesday, January 5 at 10 am.
