On October 14, 1958, Norris married Barbara Ann Huff. They raised three children who gave them seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Norris is survived by his wife Barbara of Odessa, TX, son Monty and wife Darla of Odessa, TX, two daughters, Cindi Rodgers of Odessa, TX and Connie Gibson and husband Sid of McKinney, TX. He is also survived by two sisters, Dearlene Smith of Spring, TX, and Fannie Mae Box and husband David of Muscle Shoals, AL along with numerous nieces and nephews. Norris has seven grandchildren: Dayla Oviedo and husband Robert, Brittany Hardy and husband Michael, Shawn Crawford and wife Heather, Jeremy Crawford and wife Kendra, Brandon Gibson and wife Kayla, Jordan Gibson and wife Jamie, and Colby Gibson.
After his military service as a Marine, Norris entered the oilfield in 1962. He worked for several wireline companies throughout a fifteen-year period that took him to many different states and into Canada. In 1978 Norris started his own company, Holmes Wireline Service which was in business until December, 2005.
Norris enjoyed traveling across the country, motor homing, boating, fishing, camping, leather work, re-loading and shooting guns, and riding motorcycles. For many years, he was actively involved in the Christian Motorcyclists Association.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Crane Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center for the loving care that they extended to Norris during the last five years of his life.
Memorial Services will be held at Odessa Funeral Home (1700 N. Jackson Ave, Odessa, TX) on Saturday, October 21st at 3:00 p.m. Services officiated by Rev. Jimmy Braswell
