Buddy was born April 5, 1934 in Lockport, Louisiana to Oakley and Annie Bell Baker. He
married Reba Hughes on May 28, 1955 at the Second Baptist Church. He was preceded in
death by his wife, his parents, brother Cecil “Sonny” Baker and sister Gayle Deaton.
He is survived by his daughter Naomi Baker of The Woodlands, TX, Oakley Baker and wife
Sherry of Mint Hill, NC, and grandchildren Richard Orbeck, Travis Orbeck, and Tyler Baker
Chapman.
Buddy enlisted in the US Air Force in 1951, served in Korea and Vietnam, and had over 5000
hours flying as a B-52 gunner with 143 combat missions. He retired in 1973 as a Master
Sergeant. The family returned to Odessa where he worked for the US Post Office for 20 years,
retiring in 1994. His favorite past times were fishing, hunting, camping and related activities.
Cremation arrangements will be handled by Frank Wilson Funeral Directors. In lieu of flowers,
the family suggests donations be made to a worthy charity of your choice.
