Robert F. Ortiz

Robert F. Ortiz was born June 7, 1951 in Odessa, TX to Gregoria & Paula (Florez) Ortiz. The Lord called his good and faithful servant home on August 23, 2014. He graduated from Ector High School in 1969. He married his beloved wife, Delia Sanchez Ortiz, in 1969. He was currently employed by World Service Incorporated as a safety instructor. His past occupations include: licensed plumber, fireman/paramedic with the Odessa Fire Department, several years with ATT as a repair technician, and an Ector County Sheriff Deputy Jailer. Mr. Ortiz was also an ordained minister, he was a devoted member of the Tree of Life Church. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and reading, but his greatest passion was serving his Lord and Savior.

He was a loving husband and father, a great provider for his family, an amazing grandfather to Alton, Gilbert & Persius, He always thought of others and never met a stranger.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Arthur Ortiz. He is survived by his wife Delia, son Corporal Patrik Robert Ortiz; daughter Valarie Moon & husband Charlie; brother Charlie Ortiz & wife Tamara; sister Lu Rivera & husband Gilbert; grandson Alton Moon; and a large extended family who loved him dearly.

The legacy he leaves behind is to be honest, work hard, serve God and never miss a moment to share a long winded story! We love you and will miss you, but thank you for all of the wonderful memories.

A visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frank Cedillos & Rev. Bob Bell officiating. Interment will follow at Ector County Cemetery.
