Ruth H. Adams was born September 10, 1919 in El Paso, Texas to James and Mary Monroe and was reborn into the house of God on February 26, 2014. She married Marion E. Adams on November 23, 1942. They moved to Odessa in August of 1946. She graduated from El Paso High School in 1937. She attended El Paso Miners College in 1938 – 1939, which is known today as UTEP. Ruth was a co-organizer of the Odessa Junior Service League in 1948 and served as Vice President which has developed into the current Junior League of Odessa. She remained an active member for 20 years and later became a sustaining member. Ruth was a member of the Odessa Garden Club, was an avid tennis player in her youth and in her later years enjoyed playing Bridge every Friday with her friends. Mother is a current member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Marion Adams in 2005, (4) brothers James, Rodney, Charlie & Donald Monroe; (2) sisters Mary Bateson & Jeanie Monroe.
She is survived by her (3) daughters Jan Maynard of Odessa, Kathy Cogdill & husband Alfred of Midland, Christina Gallegos of Rock Springs, TX; son William Michael Adams & wife Keshia of Odessa;(8) grandchildren; (4) great-grandchildren; numerous nieces & nephews and lots of friends.
She will lie in state at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home 9:00 am to 9:00 pm Friday, February 28, 2014.
A memorial service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. Eric Thompson officiating.
